#1 – St. Patrick’s Day Parade
This free event is open to all ages and is the unofficial kickoff to the spring season in Louisville, KY. This fun and colorful parade celebrates the historic holiday of St. Patrick’s Day. Viewers line the street to all 150 festive floats and characters march down Baxter and Bardstown Road. This year’s theme is Shakin’ The Shillelagh! and it sure to be a good time for all. #2 – Wizards and Witches Beer Festival
“I solemnly swear I am up to no good.” Enter The Gillespie as it transforms into a wizarding world full of magic, wonder, and a tad bit of mischief. This event will host tastings of over twenty winter, pumpkin, and holiday beers. Be sure to explore the Lair of Secret Cider Potions and sip a mug of adult Butterscotch Beer. There will be multiple magical photo ops, plenty of food, and live music from the Sorceress Sisters and DJ Merlin. This is a 21 and over event.

#3 – Thunder Over Louisville
Everyone knows what April brings; Thunder Over Louisville. The official kickoff to the Kentucky Derby Festival. This years theme will be the “Wonderful World of Thunder.” This year also marks the 30th anniversary of the nation’s largest annual fireworks display. Grab a lawn chair, reserve seats at one of the many riverfront restaurants, or book a room at the fabulous Galt House. Do whatever you need to do, because this is one event you do not want to miss.

#4 – Love, Lust + Rock N Roll
Come see the fabulous Louisville Orchestra perform their tribute to Love, Lust + Rock ‘n’ Roll. With conductor Bob Bernhardt and singer Storm Large, you will hear songs from Cole Porter and Frank Sinatra to Led Zeppelin and Queen. This is one night of music throwbacks that will have you tapping your feet all night.

#5 – Chow Wagon
Once again, the Chow Wagon returns to Waterfront Park on the Ohio River. The Miller Lite Music Stage will feature live concerts with local and regional entertainment and a wide variety of musical genres including jazz, R&B, country, rock, and blues. Enjoy great food and live music with your friends, family, and coworkers. All you need to get in is your 2019 Pegasus Pin, which can be purchased at many retailers around the city. There’s no way to go wrong by making a visit to this great outdoor party.

#6 – Waterfront Jam
The Kentucky Derby Festival Waterfront Jam will include live music on two stages at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville, featuring over thirty local and regional bands and seven national acts. Admission to all concerts will be free with a 2019 Pegasus Pin, available for purchase at several retailers around the Louisville, KY area. For an additional cost, you can purchase VIP Viewing tickets for select shows. This is sure to be one exciting time.

#7 – Republic Bank Pegasus Parade
This family-friendly annual event showcases some of the nation’s finest marching bands and equestrian units, along with inflatable characters and colorful floats. Led by the “Peggy Bank” inflatable Pegasus balloon, the parade marches west on Broadway for 17 blocks and lasts approximately two hours. More than 90% of the parade route offers free public viewing and bleacher and VIP seats are available with a ticket purchase. Today, the Pegasus Parade is one of the largest in the country and has featured many celebrities over the years. Muhammad Ali, John Wayne, Loretta Lynn, William Shatner, Bill Monroe, Diane Sawyer, Colonel Harland Sanders, Rick Pitino, and John Calipari are only a few of the celebrities that have appeared in the parade.
